Program Objectives
The Manufacturing Foundations Program provides students with a broad overview of the Manufacturing industry to help students better understand the opportunities available to them after high school as well as the education requirements needed to support their personal and career goals.
It is designed for students interested in better understanding how products for all industry sectors are designed, engineered and produced.
Enrollment
Students interested in this program should have registered through Infinite Campus. In the event a section is not offered at your home school, transportation will be provided. Please contact your counselor for information.
Industry Certifications
Students in the Manufacturing Foundations program also have the opportunity to work toward Manufacturing Skills Standards Council certifications that provide important knowledge and skills relevant to post-secondary education and work opportunities. The SDNB is an authorized testing site. Specifically,
- MSSC Safety Certification (2015-16)
- MSSC Quality Certification (2016-17)
Employment Opportunities
Students with an interest in applying what they are learning in school in a work environment will be connected to the SDNB Career and Service Learning Program to find an internship or youth apprenticeship that matches their interests. We have a variety of engineering and manufacturing partners interested in providing our students with quality work based learning opportunities.
Industry Mentorship, Post-secondary Education
Students enrolled in this program will be provided with access to industry mentors from our local business partners. Students will also be provided with opportunities to visit a number of different companies and post-secondary education providers throughout the year to enrich what they are learning in class and inform their Academic and Career Plans.
