We use the Everyday Math series. The EM Home Connection component does an excellent job keeping parents updated on skills and concepts covered in each unit of study. With each new unit you will be getting a family letter, homework (Home Links), and ideas for extra practice.
Each quarter, with your child's report card, you will receive a progress report detailing your child's level (Beginning, Developing, Secure) in the math learning goals covered that quarter. Please note that in First Grade, we will be teaching skills and concepts that we expect children to be "beginning" or "developing" throughout the year. There are approximately twelve learning goals that are expected to be secure by the end of First Grade. Many of these secure goals are introduced First Quarter and reinforced throughout the year.
