The Eisenhower Health course is currently being offered to any student that is in 9th through 12th grade. This course uses current state and national standards for implementing health literacy for all teens. Health literacy is a term that includes the knowledge of core health concepts, analyzing influences, decision making and goal setting skills, evaluating reliable health information, accessing appropriate health resources, developing healthy lifestyle behaviors and becoming an health advocate to improve our daily living. Eisenhower Health is a semester class that meets daily for 18 weeks. The specific units included in this course are: Introduction to Health and Wellness, Nutrition, Psychological Health, Violence Prevention, Human Sexuality, Alcohol and Tobacco Prevention, Drug Awareness and Prevention, Stress Management, and Personal Finance. Health is a required class and must be successfully completed prior to graduation.
