The School District of New Berlin hosted Technology Academy VII, August 11-13, 2009. This year's Academy was our most successful with 125 educators attending and 13 staff members serving as presenters. This high participation rate is a testament to our educators' commitment to improving learning experiences for students through the effective use of technology. The Academy offered six sessions for educators to chose from:
- Kurzweil: Reading, Writing & Study Skill Support for Learners, presented by Lisa Conway (Ronald Reagan Elementary)
- Moodle: Developing an Online Learning Environment in Your Classroom, presented by Michael Matera (University School of Milwaukee)
- Photo Story: Bringing Your Stories to Life, presented by Brenda Long (Glen Park/Orchard Lane Elementary) and Miria Lofy (Ronald Reagan Elementary)
- SMART Board: Let's Get SMARTer Than Before, presented by Carrie Boduch (Orchard Lane Elementary), Shannon Cross (Poplar Creek Elementary), Toni Heinowski (Elmwood Elementary), Jake Misiak (Eisenhower MS/HS), and Rachel Yurk (Poplar Creek Elementary)
- Web 2.0: Making the New Read/Write Web Work for You and Your Students, presented by Cory Peppler (University School of Milwaukee)
- Web Design: Developing Your Classroom/Co-curricular Web Site, presented by Karen Standish (District Webmaster), Joan Gargulak (District Technician), and Linda Maas (Poplar Creek Elementary)
The Technology Academy was kicked off on August 11 with a keynote by Naomi Harm, CEO of Innovative Educator Consulting. Naomi's presentation was entitled, "Web 2.0 Literacy Tools to Transform Teaching and Learning".
