Kevin Fitzgerald was hired as Director of Athletics and Activities in August of 2013. He has nine years of experience as an athletic administrator, having previously served in various capacities at the intercollegiate level. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a B.S. in Exercise Sport Science, he completed is graduate degree at the University of Louisville with a M.S. in Sport Administration. While at UW-L, Fitzgerald was a football student-athlete, winning WIAC championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and was named All-WIAC in 2004. Fitzgerald’s first administrative experience was at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he served as Assistant Director of Athletic Compliance. From 2007-10, Fitzgerald served in a similar capacity at the University of Minnesota (Associate Director of Athletic Compliance) where he worked closely with coaches, staff, and student-athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA and Big Ten rules. In 2010, Fitzgerald was named Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. At UWM, Fitzgerald oversaw the department’s NCAA compliance program, student-athlete eligibility, financial aid, and rules education. Fitzgerald also served as the sport administrator for several UWM sports; women’s tennis, men’s cross country, men’s track and field, women’s cross country, and women’s track and field.
Originally from Stevens Point, WI, Fitzgerald’s father, Jerry, spent 25 years as the Head Football Coach and Assistant Principal at Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) and was inducted to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006. Fitzgerald and his wife Lindsay (formerly Lindsay Rosicky) currently reside in Brookfield with their daughter, Olivia.
