Choir

All fourth, fifth and sixth grade students who would like the opportunity to do some extra singing are invited to join choir. The choir meets Wednesday mornings before school throughout the year. We focus on singing and perform two concerts. Contact music teacher Ms. Nehm with questions.

Coding Club

Coding Club is an opportunity for students to be exposed or continue practicing coding, coached by Ms. Karolek. Students will be introduced to various coding apps and websites. They will also have the opportunity to code Elmwood's robots. Coding Club meets Tuesday afterschool. Sessions vary in length depending on grade level and on the number of students participating. Enrollment information can be found in Paw Prints Fridays.

Elmwood Today Show

Fifth and sixth grade students have the opportunity to produce our school-wide, live-stream, morning broadcast: the Elmwood Today Show. Crew members will gain technical skills, learn to collaborate as a team, and develop confidence and composure when speaking to an audience. Students make a two-week commitment and must have the ability to arrive early (prior to the start of the school day) for the duration of their session.

Girls On The Run

Girls on the Run is a 10-week program, meeting after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20-4:50 p.m. It is for girls in grades 3-5 and fosters confident, competent and caring young girls through physical activity and lessons focused on findings their inner strength through positive emotional, social, physical and mental development. The season concludes with a 5K.

Musical

Do you enjoy singing, dance, acting, painting or building? Each spring, fourth, fifth and sixth graders have the opportunity to participate in the musical. You can choose to participate by actor or actress, singing and dancing on stage. Or you can put your painting and building skills to use and join stage crew. All practices are after school in January through March, with a performance at the end of March. Contact music teacher Ms. Nehm, with questions.

Robotics Club

Fifth and sixth grade students can join the Robotics Club and participate in FIRST LEGO League. Every year, FIRST LEGO League releases a challenge, which is based on a real-world, scientific topic. Each challenge has three parts: the Robot Game, the Innovation Project and the Core Values. Teams of up to 10 children participate in the challenge by programming an autonomous robot to score points. Participants are exposed to potential career paths within a chosen challenge topic, in addition to solidifying STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) principles.

Elmwood's robotics teams are coached by Mrs. Dodd, Mr. Dodd and Ms. Karolek, along with high school mentors from the New Berlin BLITZ team. Teams are limited to a maximum of 10 students. Applications are available over the summer and due in late August. There is a fee to participate. Practices are held after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through regional events in November and December.

Speed Stacking Club

Speed Stacking Club is open to students in grades 1-6. Speed Stacks are specially designed sport stacking cups that students stack in a multitude of ways as fast as they possibly can. Sport stacking promotes hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, focus, reaction time, and exercises both sides of the brain at the same time. All students start on a level playing field and being athletic does not help out in this activity. The key to this sport is simply practice.

Speed Stacking Club meets Monday mornings at 7:30 a.m. in the gym for 6 weeks. No equipment is needed to join; we supply the cups.

Student Leadership Team

Do you have great ideas to promote school spirit? Are you interested in helping others in our community and our world? If so, you are perfect for Elmwood's Student Leadership Team! We are looking for respectful and responsible fourth, fifth and sixth graders who will positively model our school beliefs as Student Leadership Team representatives. Members will meet to plan special spirit days, coordinate community projects and decide how we can help make our school a better place to learn and grow.
