If you are interested in working towards one of these certificates, please see your counselor for more information.

Global Education Achievement Certificate

Supported by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the Global Education Achievement Certificate is designed to recognize students who engage in experiences fostering global competencies both in and out of the classroom.

Read more about the Global Education Achievement Certificate here.

Employability Skills Certificate

The intent of the Wisconsin Employability Skills Certificate Program is to recognize a student’s ability to demonstrate employability skills valued by employers. Employers and schools rate students in work-based skills related to Personal Work Habits and Attitudes and Personal and Professional Development. Students also need to log a minimum of 90 hours of service learning or work placement to receive credit. More information can be found at https://dpi.wi.gov/cte/skills-standards/employability.

State Skills Certificate Program

The Wisconsin Cooperative Education Skill Standards Certificate Program recognizes students who have demonstrated skills in specific disciplines through on-the-job experiences (similar to a Youth Apprenticeship).

High school juniors or seniors work 480 hours over the summer/school year through the SDNB internship program, are evaluated by the employer based on standards set by industry, and take related coursework at their school to support their placement.

For more information on the SDNB Internship Program, refer to: https://www.nbexcellence.org/district/career-service-based-learning.cfm

For more information on the State Skills Certificate program, please refer to: https://dpi.wi.gov/cte/skills-standards

Youth Apprenticeships

Wisconsin's Youth Apprenticeship Certificate recognizes students who have demonstrated skills in specific disciplines through on the job experiences.

High school juniors or seniors work 450 hours over the summer/school year under the mentorship of an industry professional, are evaluated by the employer based on standards set by industry, and take related coursework at their school to support their placement.

For more information on the Youth Apprenticeship Program, please refer to: https://www.nbexcellence.org/district/career-service-based-learning.cfm

National Career Readiness Certificate

All Juniors take the ACT WorkKeys each spring. This exam measures not just what you know, but how well you apply what you know. This assessment provides the opportunity to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate.  Higher ratings indicate a broader range of employment opportunities in the future.

For information about the ACT WorkKeys assessment, the advisory lesson that provides information on how to interpret your student's results in relation to their future opportunities and course of study, and how your student can earn a National Career Readiness Certificate, please refer to www.nbexcellence.org/district/act.cfm.

More Industry Credential Opportunities

If you are interested in pursuing an industry credential related to a specific program of study (i.e. construction, manufacturing, healthcare, information technology), please refer to the following page to identify where industry certifications have been embedded into SDNB coursework and/or independent study. https://www.nbexcellence.org/district/cte-personalized.cfm

In addition, there is a wide variety of other industry credentials that can be pursued outside of school. For a complete list of examples endorsed by the State of Wisconsin, please refer to:
http://wisconsinfastforward.com/prosperity/pupil/2017_cte_certification_list.pdf

Please make sure that your counselor is aware of any credentials you have earned during high school.
