The School District of New Berlin is monitoring COVID-19 closely and following recommendations by local, state and federal entities. There are NO confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the SDNB.
What the SDNB is doing:
Our custodial and cleaning staff have clear processes for cleaning and sanitizing our schools. All classrooms are cleaned nightly once staff and students have gone home. We use high-grade sanitizer as part of our daily cleaning of our classrooms and all classrooms are equipped with disinfectant wipes that can be used throughout the day to wipe surfaces. We will continue to follow any additional sanitation protocols recommended.
We continue to review and revise our emergency plans and processes in conjunction with directives of the health department, DPI, the CDC and other local, state and federal entities.
What families / staff can do:
The CDC continues to recommend the following actions to prevent the spread of infection:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Keep children home when they are sick. Children should be vomit-free, diarrhea-free, and fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before they return to school.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
