Since the 2019-20 school year, the SDNB has pursued and received mental health grants through the Department of Public Instruction, UW-Madison and the Department of Justice totaling approximately $479,800. These funds have allowed the district to accomplish great things in support of our students and families.
The SDNB recognizes that some students are unable to access mental health services they need. Starting in 2019-20, the SDNB partnered with Family Service of Waukesha, a counseling agency. Together, we worked with families to deliver mental health services directly to students in our secondary schools on-site during the school day. That service continues at Eisenhower and West. In 2022-23, we expanded our school-based mental health services to all of our elementary schools. We now have partnerships with Clinical Psychology Associates, Integrative Psyche, and Family Service of Waukesha.
Additionally, the Drew Lietke Memorial Mental Health Care Fund was established to ensure that no child in our district will go without the mental health care and support they need.
