The Wisconsin Open Enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than that in which they reside.
Parents must submit online applications to the non-resident district during the application period beginning in February for the following school year. For school year 2017-2018, the Open Enrollment application window will open at midnight on Feb. 6, 2017, and continue through 4:00 p.m. on April 28, 2017. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason. For further information concerning Open Enrollment, or to access the online application during the application window, visit the Department of Public Instruction website or contact DPI at (888) 245-2732.
There is no tuition cost to parents for participation. Parents of open-enrolled students may be charged the same fees as resident students.
New Berlin does NOT have a 4K program. (In order for children to open enroll into a 4K program, both districts must offer the same program; therefore, SDNB resident applications to other districts must be denied.)
Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from school.
Every January, school boards must review and approve their Open Enrollment policy as well as determine seat availability for the following school year.
New Berlin Board Policy 5114- Open Enrollment approved January 11, 2016.
